approved design concepts for Lake Street

What: Open house for Lake Street Reconstruction and Streetscaping Project, East Segment, Hiawatha Ave. to the Mississippi River.
When: October 19, 2005. 5:30 pm–7:30 pm.
Where: Brackett Park, 2738 39th Avenue South, Minneapolis
The Project Advisory Committee for Lake Street Reconstruction & Streetscaping invites area residents, businesses and property owners to attend this very important public meeting.
This summer the Minneapolis City Council approved a preliminary street design layout for reconstructing Lake Street from Hiawatha Ave. to the Mississippi River. The approval is a major milestone in a community planning process ongoing since 2003.
The open house provides an opportunity to view these concept layouts and the progress being made by Hennepin County and the City of Minneapolis in preparing detailed design plans. The meeting will discuss:
- Proposed street layouts with "bumpouts" at most intersections.
- Plans for streetscaping (sidewalks, lighting, trees, benches, etc.)
- Next steps leading to a construction start of April 15, 2006.
- Special assessments and role of Special Service Districts.
