Being Green on Lake Street
What would a sustainable Lake Street look like?

I represent the Hiawatha-Lake Business Association on the Lake Street Reconstruction Project Advisory Committee. As an employee of The Green Institute, I also bring sensitivity toward sustainable development. Sustainability is often defined as a balancing of three E's: Environment, Economics, and Equity. On Lake Street in the early 21st Century, this means a commercial corridor that is sensitive to issues of air and water quality, energy efficiency and the urban heat island while nurturing a thriving business community, and making sure that this corridor is accessible to a diverse range of businesses and consumers.
